Pakistan Squad for Hong Kong Sixes 2026

Pakistan arrive as defending champions and have named a seven-member squad led by Abbas Afridi.

The squad

The Pakistan Cricket Board named these players: Abbas Afridi (captain), Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Khawaja Nafay, Muhammad Shahzad and Saad Masood. The side travelled to Hong Kong ahead of the opening day on 30 October.

Defending champions

Pakistan won the 2025 title by beating Kuwait by 43 runs in the final, which is generally counted as their sixth Hong Kong Sixes win. That makes them the team everyone else has to beat.

Group C and the fixtures

Pakistan are in Group C with India and the United Arab Emirates. They open against the UAE at 02:35 UTC, which is 7:35 am in Pakistan, and meet India at 06:15 UTC, which is 11:15 am in Pakistan.

Why seven players

Each side plays six at a time, so teams name seven. The extra player gives cover for injury or illness during three days of short matches, and a captain can rest a bowler when a group result is already safe.

Pakistan at this event

Pakistan won the first edition in 1992, won again in 2001 and in 2025, and lost the 2024 final to Sri Lanka by three wickets. That history is why every opponent treats Pakistan as the team to beat, even in a short game where one over can change the result.

What to watch

In a six-over game every batter must score quickly and every bowler has only one over. Watch the opening pair, because early runs put the chasing side under pressure, and watch net run rate if two Group C teams finish level.
